‘A true artist is not one who is inspired, but one who inspires others…’
- Salvador Dali
It’s been over a decade since I started Distinct. My journey began when I was facing a point in my career in corporate to find new meaning and purpose. I had all the material trappings of success but lacked passion for what I was doing and desperately needed inspiration.
I decided to take time off and flew to New York where I met jewelry designer extraordinaire Bliss Lau at her temporary design studio at Parsons (New York was just recovering from hurricane Sandy). She showcased her designs saying ‘every piece of jewelry I make is like a breath that I took…’
That evening, she invited me to dinner where I proceeded to meet her friends who were also designers, artists, writers, producers, chefs and creators. I was having my personal ‘Midnight In Paris’ moment. I felt like Anthony Bourdain or Charlie Rose being situated with some of the most uniquely gifted people.
I felt at home.
What I am sharing with you is a personal archive of my journey into storytelling, entrepreneurship, and inspiration. While the world is filled with uncertainties, realize there is beauty for ashes, and a Creator at work who is deeply invested in their creation.
